Keith Samples
Keith Samples is the President of the Television Division for Media Rights Capital. Keith Samples heads up MRC’s television deals, including the creation of original programming and syndication agreements. Before coming to MRC, Keith Samples was an independent film producer and director; he has over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He is also the founder and former CEO of Rysher Entertainment.
Working with Media Rights Capital, Keith Samples has formed partnerships with top creative talent that includes Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky; Steve Levinson, executive producer of Entourage; and writers Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider for the hit television series the Sopranos, among others.
As an independent film director and screen writer, Keith Samples has worked on over 40 episodes of network and cable television programs, including popular series such as The Practice, Homicide, and HBO’s Oz. Keith Samples worked on movies such as Election and the romantic comedy A Smile Like Yours. At Rysher Entertainment, Keith Samples was known for the success of television syndicated tv show Saved By the Bell and Highlander: The Series. His movies included Big Night, Private Parts, Primal Fear and The Saint.
Media Rights Capital was a natural progression for Keith Samples. Keith Samples has held leadership positions in a range of related fields, including as a studio executive, writer, producer and director. Keith Samples was an outside consultant for The Office, popular NBC series, featuring Steve Carell. Keith Samples negotiated with NBC Universal, the series star, Steve Carell, and creator, Greg Daniels, on behalf of MRC to obtain rights to the show. The Keith Samples and Media Rights Capital (MRC) deal with NBC Universal is estimated to be about worth $2.2 million for each episode.
According to Keith Samples: "I went to them and said, 'I think the value of the show is worth more,’ and asked if they were okay with me looking around for aggressive ways (to boost the price), they were. It was a good alternative. It was presented (to NBCU) and passed on. It’s pretty simple when you cut through it all."
